Why an Electric Bike is so much better than a conventional bike...

1.It will keep you fit!

Surely a non-electric bike will keep you fitter than one fitted with a motor? Well, that depends on how much you use it. Research has found that 46% of conventional bikes are used only once or twice a week; with a further 30% being used once a fortnight or even less.

By contrast, a recent survey of electric bicycle owners reveals that a third ride their bike at least once a day and 81% use the bike at least once a week.

Because riding an electric bike is so much more enjoyable in hilly country, into strong winds, or when carrying heavy loads, users tend to make better use of them. The motor provides up to half the effort, but more regular use means more exercise for the rider

2.Shrink Hills!

A quality Electric bike will increase your average cycling speed and eliminate the strain when a gradient looms.

In hilly country, the effect is nothing short of miraculous. Many users seem to notice that hills seem to get steeper as they get older, well here is the perfect solution.

3.Safety!

Theres no doubt that an electric bike helps to keep you out of danger - the faster your acceleration, the sooner you can get out of trouble. And with no need to rush the hills, you wont be tempted to ride downhill at breakneck speed as you can use the power assist to get up the next slope.

Electricscooter.us.com recommend that you wear an approved cycle helmet, reflective clothing and lights,(a flashing red LED attached to your clothing is well worth having on day and night).

4.Less Sweat, more fun !

In hot weather, its possible to stay cool and dry by transferring a bit more load to the electric motor.

In colder weather - or if you feel in need of exercise - just throttle back, or turn the motor off.

5.Green Machine!

The amount of energy used by the electric bikes is very small compared to a moped, motorcycle or car. In terms of fuel consumption, an electric bike achieves about 800-2,000 mpg. No other commercially available vehicle can match such performance.

6.Beats Congestion!

Beat the Congestion charge! Make the most of those ever improving Bus lanes and cycle paths .

In theory a car will travel at higher speed on average, but in practise speed often falls below 10mph in cities - often much less in an overcrowded city like London. The problem is congestion - motorcycles get around this to some extent, but theyre still confined to the road network and require additional tax, fuel and insurance.

An electric bike can maintain a higher average speed than a bicycle but can take advantage of the same network of cycle facilities, giving access to areas that cars and motorcycles cannot reach. The result is often a faster door-to-door journey time than any other type of vehicle. And by taking advantage of the uncongested cycle network, but eliminating hills and headwinds, electric bikes are often the most consistent mode of travel at local distances.

7.Potential High Resale Value!

Electric bikes are new technology, and its early days yet, but the evidence points to a much better resale value than a conventional bike. True, a typical electric bike costs more to buy, at £600-£1,400, but it seems youll get most of that back if you sell the machine on.

8.Street Legal !

Electric bikes are treated just like ordinary bicycles for legislative purposes, so theres absolutely no registration or legislation to worry about. You are of course free to insure the machine if you wish, but theres no need to do anything but enjoy yourself!

9.Looking Good !

Electricscooter.us.com understand that style is not an option. All our bikes are selected because they are the most stylish available.

10.Folding Fun !

We only supply folding framed electric bikes. They fold up small, so no need for a bike rack!.

They fit in the boot, on the train, on the boat, in the caravan or under the desk.

ENERGY SAVING TIPS
NO COST IDEAS
These easy to follow tips will help you save energy at no cost, and could save you £££'s.

Curtains
At night, draw the curtains to keep heat in the room

Heating
Turn the thermostat down by just 1 degree celcius - this can cut as much as 10% from your heating bill.
If someone comes to the front door, don't chat with the door wide open. Invite them in and save £££s.

Water Heating
Remember not to set the thermostat too hight on your water heater - 60 deg. celcius / 140 deg. f is usually high enough
remember to use the plug in your basin and sink - leaving hot water taps running is both wasteful and expensive.

Lights
Remember to turn lights off when you leave the room for long periods.

Televisions, computers & Hi-fi
Don't use the standby mode for long periods - switch off yout TV, video and Hi-fi system at the set. Its a simple way to save energy and money.
Switch off your computer when its not in use, use the power saver mode on your monitor and use a screensaver. Consider an LCD screen as they consume less energy.

Fridges and freezers
Defrost fridges and freezers regularly to keep them running efficiently.
Where possible, position your fridge or freezer away from cookers and heaters.

Dishwashers
Use low temperature or economy programmes unless you have very dirty dishes

LOW COST IDEAS
The following tips may cost a little, but they will help you make considerable savings on your energy bills:-

Energy Saving Lightbulbs
Use energy saving lightbulbs wherever you can. They only use around 20% of the electricity used by ordinary lightbulbs and can last over 10 times as long.

Heating
Fit Heatkeeper radiator panels behind radiators on external walls and prevent heat loss through the wall, estimated at up to 70% of heat generated. These panels will cut heating bills by up to 20%, saving £60 a year for an average 3 bed semi.

Insulation
Putting a lagging jacket around your hot water tank and insulating hot water pipes can pay for itself in just a few months with the money you will save.
Put draught strips around external windows and doors and fit a flap across the letterbox.

Energy saving plan - COURTESY OF THE ENERGY SAVING TRUST.

They say you have to speculate to accumulate and, by following the simple energy saving plan below, you're guaranteed a great return on your investment, both financially and environmentally. The energy saving measures below could help you shave up to £250 off your annual energy bill and enable you to reduce your carbon dioxide emissions by two tonnes. Here's how you do it.

1. Brush up on energy saving
Eliminate draughts and wasted heat by installing a cheap, easy-to-fix brush or PVC seal on your exterior doors. Letterboxes and keyholes should be covered too.

2. Draught dodgers
Draughts also get in through gaps in floorboards and skirting boards, which also allow heat to escape in the winter months. Filling them with newspaper, beading or sealant will help you stop throwing heat (and your money!) away.

3. A bright idea & buy an energy saving light bulb
Trade your ordinary light bulbs for energy saving ones. Costing from just £5, energy saving light bulbs last 12 times longer and for each bulb you fit, you could save up to £7 on your annual electricity bill.

4. Treat your tank & give it a jacket
An insulating jacket for a hot water tank only costs a few pounds and pays for itself within months. Fit one that's at least 75mm (3") thick and you could save £10-15 a year. If every UK household fitted a jacket on their tank tomorrow, we'd save over £150 million of energy every year!

5. Lofty ambitions
Insulating your loft is one of the simplest ways to save energy and you can even install it yourself. Insulate you loft today and in a year you could between £140 and £170.

6. Look for cavities
Around 33% of the heat lost in your home is through the walls, so insulating them can be the most cost-effective way to save energy in the home - you could save up to £120 on your annual heating bills! Cavity wall insulation will also keep you cool in the summer and warm in winter. It's straightforward, inexpensive and hassle-free. If we all had our cavity walls filled tomorrow, together we'd save over £650 million of energy every year.

7. Boilers - it may not be broke but it might still need fixing!
If your boiler is over 15 years old it's probably time to replace it. By law, new boilers must now be of the high-efficiency condensing type. They can help you save up to a third on your heating bills and even more if you upgrade to modern controls.

8. Look for the logo
When replacing appliances, look for ones displaying the energy saving recommended logo. Energy saving appliances use less energy and could save you up to £35 a year.

9. See double...and cut heat loss by 50%
Double-glazing cuts heat loss through windows by 50% and could cut your heating bill by £40.
